Indiana Dunes Campground—Indiana
I was less than enthusiastic about my stay at this National Park Campground. I was here in the spring and my loop was damp and not well maintained.
Sibley Lake Campground—Wyoming
I would absolutely stay here again and again. The campground is beautiful and offers access to all of the most amazing views and points of interest in the Bighorn Mountains.
Axtel Campground—Kentucky
Located on the Rough River Lake near McDaniels, Kentucky this campground was well maintained and the campsites were dispersed enough that I was not right on top of my neighbors.
Cottonwood Campground—North Dakota
If you are not interested in a campground with hookups and can spend a three or four days “off grid,” you can’t do much better than Cottonwood.
Seneca Shadows Campground—West Virginia
I have stayed here a couple times and I really like the campground overall. The campsites are spacious and surrounded by forest.
Hazelton Campground—North Dakota
I have very high expectations for Corps of Engineers campgrounds and I was very disappointed with Hazelton.
Assateague Island National Seashore Campground—Maryland
The campsites at Assateague are pretty close together and a few flood during heavy rain.
Eggerts Landing Campground—North Dakota
I saw something in one of my searches that referred to Eggerts Landing as a “top rated” campground. I can confirm that endorsement. This campground is pretty special.
Sherando Lake Recreation Area—Virginia
I camped at this National Forest Campground the first time when my son was three and he is now almost 30. I have also volunteered at this campground, so I’m pretty familiar.
