I saw something in one of my searches that referred to Eggerts Landing as a “top rated” campground. I can confirm that endorsement. This campground is pretty special. It’s not terribly large (41 sites), which I like. More importantly, there is excellent dispersion, it is wooded so there is at least partial shade on each site and it is exceptionally clean. Sites are all gravel, but fairly level (I could have used a single leveling block, but did without). I spoke with the camp host, who is in his seventh season, and he described it as a relatively quiet family campground. That seems accurate.

The shared facilities (shower house and dump station area) are fairly modern, well maintained and clean. The road in is paved and level.

The nearby town of Valley City has most of the necessary shopping for any length of stay. The main activity is centered around the lake. Boating and fishing are the primary draw, but there is a small, sandy beach and roped-off swimming area. In the vicinity of the beach, there are occasional ranger-led children’s activities and family movies on the weekend.
