The campground has three loops (not including the group sites). Two have electricity. The third is dry camping and will only accommodate small trailers or RVs. The sites have excellent dispersion, so you will not be camping so close you can hear your neighbor snore. Everything is well maintained. Staff and volunteers are very attentive to the needs of guests.
There are two man-made lakes and a trail system that is easily accessible. The lower lake has a beach area and a small store that are both open seasonally. When it is staffed, the amphitheater offers family-friendly movies and youth activities. Both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Shenandoah National Park are just a short drive from Sherando.
