Make no mistake, Oliver Lee is in the desert, so the temperatures can be extreme. With that in mind, I can think of nothing bad to say about this campground. It is well maintained, with nice dispersion between sites and very modern facilities.

As far as location, the park itself is incredibly beautiful. The campground is pressed right up against Dog Canyon and the Sacramento Mountains. The desert is full of life and there are a number of trails to explore more closely. Furthermore, the park is less than a 30-minute drive to White Sands National Park and there are many other national and state points of interest just slightly further away. So Oliver Lee is a perfect base from which to see the larger region.

Finally, the city of Alamogordo is just minutes away. It offers an array of shopping and dining options.

I would absolutely stay here again.
