The campgrounds at Curt Gaudy sprawl around the lake in a number of loops. Most sites are on or have a view of the lake. There are few trees, but the sites are spread out to avoid crowding. Overall the park is clean and appears to be well maintained.

All sites are gravel and probably require some leveling. Most sites have electricity and a water hookup. I was satisfied with the campground overall, but the dump station is out of order and the nearest dumps are in Cheyenne or Laramie. So long stays are problematic. There are vault toilets spread around the campground. Flush toilets and showers require a drive to the visitor center.

The nearest shopping, dining, fuel or repairs are also 30 minutes away in Cheyenne or Laramie. It is a straight shot into either city, but it is probably best to arrive fully supplied for your stay.

The lake offers opportunities for fishing, swimming and boating. There is also a fairly extensive trail system throughout the park. Signs warn of bear activity, but rattlesnakes are probably more of a problem. Just be observant as you hike.

I would likely stay again, but only for a night or two as I’m passing through.
